This is the first tablescape I have done since February.

This is the first tablescape I have ever done in a basement!
So, the theme is apples. As I looked back at the photos, I noticed that the walls, table and chairs, and carpet are very close in color. And, the table has a glass top. To me, it looks like my tablescape is kind of floating. See if you agree.
So, how do you ground things? Use black!
And, what's more fun than plain old black? Black with white polka dots!
Because of my busy place settings, I went very simple with the centerpiece!
Yes, there are pears in there, too. But, apples love to share the spotlight with pears!
These dishes were in the "things I want to give away before we move" pile, but at the last minute I changed my mind!

So, T is for Tired because I've spent the last few months getting moved into our new home. To give you an idea of the magnitude, my dishes alone filled 22 boxes. The stemware was another 11 boxes. That doesn't include the three sets of china I own.
I bought the table and chairs in this week's post, so I would have a table to set in the basement, just steps away from my "dish room." I plan on painting them, and eventually the basement walls will get color, too.

Welcome back! Your table is wonderful. At least you saved your dishes. I knew that I also had apple dishes, but I did get rid of them. So I had to scurry around to find a alternative. What I did find is not the traditional apple colors, but I kind of think it worked.

Woot! Most exciting news in...well almost ever! Sooo happy to have you back sharing your tables Elaine! I hear you on the boxes of dishes and glasses and other props ;-) I had packed and unpacked about the same :-) And you have come back sharing such a pretty table. Love the dishes and the centerpiece. Smart to have a table near your collection! Now, since we both have moved, we need to get together again and go shopping so we can fill more boxes lol!
Congrats on your new home, I love that you couldn't wait to do a tablescape! And it's so colorful and full, the viewer doesn't even notice the room and details that you do! I love the black and white polka dots with the colorful fruits! Get some rest, you will pull your home together soon enough!

Your table does appear to be floating! Glass is a nice neutral. I think the polka dots are so cute with those dishes. I really love the hurricane loaded with the apples and pears- what a fabulous look!
So nice to see you back! I may have to join you when I'm done getting settled in here (painted an accent wall in the guest room yesterday). I could never have parted with those dishes. I love a black background! I still have over 45 boxes of dishes, glasses and décor in my garage! I'm slowly finding hidden storage for them in the house.

Elaine, I really enjoyed seeing your table. I love dishes with black backgrounds - so glad you did not give those away. However, I was put totally in a panic mode, after reading about your moving your dishes. My husband is to retire soon and we might decide to move. I am overwhelmed at the thought, although a dish room sounds great. I might have to go to bed for the rest of the day, just thinking about moving all of this tableware - yikes!!
Those dishes look amazing with the black and white polka dots! Great idea to keep the centerpiece simple, yet dramatic due to the height of the hurricane. Glad you're back -- and have found room for all those dishes!
Your centerpiece is dramatic and yet so simple -- beautiful. It's a good thing you didn't get rid of those dishes, although now you can since you have used them again. :) Your comment about moving takes me back to our first move when I was 21 years old. The movers said I had 1000 pounds of dishes and 1000 pounds of books -- and not much else. I started my obsession early in life. It's great to have you back!
